Only a few feet outside Ramat Bet Shemesh, on a newly discovered single track bike trail, hiking with the boys before we went to mini israel.
We saw something move in the brush, and then chayim tzvi, our nature man with eagle eyes says "its a praying mantis."
I'm thinking no way! But what do you know, blending in to the dry thorny bush is the biggest bug I've ever seen. I ain't no taxonomical wiz but it sure looked like a praying mantis. You be the judge.
And see the pic of us bush whacking (really thorn whacking) our way up and down a mountain. We seemed to lose the trail. :-)
